Herbs like Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum), Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) and Pippali (Piper longum) are traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to clear nose and throat congestion and to expel excess mucous from the lungs.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) & Long Pepper (Piper longum) are both known for their action on upper respiratory infections, drying secretions & rejuvenating tissue. Thorny Bamboo (Bambusa arundinacea) is also effective in treating coughs & colds.
