Pitta Skin types - Your Dosha

Pitta represents biological fire. It governs digestions and metabolic transformation of nutrients into biologically usable form. It also imparts capacity to absorb ideas and impression and bestow intelligence and an enthusiasm for life.

Your skin will have the tendency to be oily, reddish and sensitive. Calming and rebalancing is your secret to success.

According to Ayurveda, the human body is governed by three intelligences - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These intelligences are commonly known as Doshas or humours. As they are the governing force behind every function in our body they manifest through their qualities.

Pitta dominant skin has qualities of the fire and water elements.

These two elements give hot, sharp, oily qualities to skin structure. These elements are responsible for problems such as acne, pimples, sensitive skin and freckles to name a few. To rebalance we need to use herbs that create the following: coldness, astringency, softness and heaviness.

Pitta dominant skin is more likely to gather impurities from the environment due to the stickiness and oiliness of the face, leading to acne and pimples. Apart from the qualities that come naturally from the elements, a Pitta dominant person has tendencies towards anger, frustration, holding on to emotions, too much pressure and being a workaholic; overall, too much 'go-go'. These factors also reflect on the skin; which ultimately leads to an increase in qualities such as hot, sharp, intense, oily and acidic skin.

To balance pitta skin we recommend the Ayurda Balance & Soothe skin program.
